5 Research Mentees All the Mentees ‘agreed’ or ‘strongly agreed’ that they know more about the supports that they can use in the school/institution/group and felt that they could ask their Mentor something that they did not know about. When asked what was most useful to you, the responses included the following: “It was nice to chat and know someone that had connections within the college I could relate to” “ Useful information” “One to one chats” “Listening” “Advice” “Face to Face meetings” Mentors All the Mentors agreed or strongly agreed that had developed trust with their Mentee. 90% of the mentors indicated that they had made a connection with their Mentees. When asked what was most useful to you, the responses included the following: “Mentor Training”, “Chatting about college. Helping the mentor settle in and to have a sense of belonging there”, “Meeting in a cafe to catch-up”, “The one-to-one chats were useful, opportunities to help the mentee arose from those”, “Just meeting my mentee regularly and talking about how things were going for them”. 90% of mentors were satisfied with the programme and 100% said they would like to be involved in the programme next year. Relationships between Mentors and Mentees Respondents felt their matches worked and they had “things in common” which they could build conversations around. One match had studied the same course which made it much easier to engage with them. All Mentees said that they had no real concerns, were probably a little nervous prior to the first meeting but they ‘went with the flow’ and were put at ease very quickly. All Mentees were very happy with their match, they all felt like it was the right Mentor for them and that they got on well from the very beginning.
